Comprehensive & Personalized Nutrition Services

Overview

Whether you are seeking nutrition services to address specific dietary needs, break free from a history of diet cycling and disordered eating, or improve athletic performance, I offer a personalized approach that addresses not only what you eat, but how you approach food and eating - and how you think and feel about food and your body.  In our work together, I will strive to understand your needs, preferences and goals in order to offer realistic and personalized solutions for your nutrition and health concerns. 

My approach with food, eating and weight is based on a non-diet approach to meet your nutrition and health goals. I discourage eliminating foods or food groups (except when specifically dictated by a medical diagnosis). My experience has demonstrated that "dieting" to control or manage weight causes increased anxiety about weight and food, which unfortunately backfires, resulting in increased cravings, metabolic adaptations, weight gain, and other health consequences.  I'm a strong advocate of "size acceptance" and promoting healthy behaviors at every size.  Therefore, my philosophy and approach is focused on helping individuals make sustainable behavior change that improves their relationship with food, eating and activity while promoting positive nutrition and optimal health outcomes.

A range of services are offered in the following areas:
Sports nutrition with specialties in nutrition for dancers, gymnasts, figure skaters and endurance athletes  
Women's Health including concerns related to menopause and beyond
Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating
Workshops/Speaking

How do I get started?

Initial Nutrition Assessment – 90 minutes. In this first visit, I want to learn about you and “your story.”  Health information is gathered and we will discuss your current nutritional status and personal goals, as well as your current eating habits and preferences. You will leave this session with some basic meal planning and small steps to get you started on your nutrition and health goals.   

First Follow-up Session – 60 minutes (scheduled approximately 1-2 weeks after initial visit). In this session we will review your personal nutrition program, individualized based on your short and long term goals discussed in the initial session. You will also receive relevant recipes, meal planning suggestions, educational handouts, resources, and behavioral tools tailored to help you be successful in achieving your goals.  I will collaborate with you to ensure you have the necessary tools, knowledge and ability to make behavioral change that is practical, realistic and do-able for YOU.

What's Next?

Making changes that will last a lifetime occurs in stages and often takes time. For those individuals who need additional support and accountability to make behavioral changes with their food and eating, ongoing sessions are offered at a reduced fee to help you stay on track and ensure you are able to take your nutrition to the level. These sessions may be 60- or 30-minute sessions either weekly or bi-monthly.

Fees and Insurance

I have designed my services and programs to be flexible and affordable.  I am an "out of network" provider for private insurance. What this means is that I can provide a "superbill" for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement if there is an appropriate medical diagnosis. It is up to you to know the terms for reimbursement and speak to your insurance company prior to the session.
